Allow me to beg your indulgence! I’m here to present you with the official Payback Predictions, brought to you by Team Buried!
Payback Kickoff Match: Sheamus vs. Damien Sandow
It’s unfortunate to see Damien Sandow getting thrown to the YouTube Preshow, which is being referred to as a “kickoff” for some reason. Instant replays, obscene amount of concussions, and now kickoffs? Seems like they’re trying a bit too hard to be like the NFL. I have feeling this will be a very straightforward match. Sheamus will come out with the victory via Brogue Kick.
Honestly it’s about time we’ve had this match, considering AJ’s been Number One Contender for nearly two months. I will give it up to them, AJ and Kaitlyn have had a few good moments to build up this match; the backstage brawl they had last month and the latest being AJ using Big E Langston as Kaitlyn’s secret admirer. I doubt the match will be spectacular but it’ll be passable. I believe by giving AJ the belt we’ll see it more considering all the TV time she gets with Ziggler. AJ Lee will win using her Black Widow submission.
Winner: AJ Lee
United States Championship Match: Dean Ambrose (C) vs. Kane
The Shield have been on an absolute rampage since debuting in the WWE. Dean Ambrose has proved his talent in the ring with a victory over The Undertaker and gaining the U.S. Title from Kofi Kingston. But, Kane is no slouch either. For a guy who’s been in the business for 18 years, he can still get around well and put on solid matches. I’m not expecting a super long match, but Kane and Ambrose will definitely perform. I don’t see Ambrose dropping the title to Kane. Seeing Dean Ambrose slam Kane face first into the mat should be pretty awesome.
Winner: Dean Ambrose.
Intercontinental Championship Match: Wade Barrett vs. The Miz vs. Curtis Axel
This match probably ties the Divas match for the match I’m least interested to see. This match can be figured out by process of elimination. The Miz certainly isn’t going to win because the WWE has some ongoing gag that involves burying him at every possible opportunity. I’m eliminating Curtis Axel from the equation strictly because he was a replacement for Fandango. If he were to win it would probably be by double count-out (somehow) therefore he still wouldn’t get the belt. So that just leaves Wade Barrett as the victor. All the competitors have the talent and ability to make this a watchable match.
Winner: Wade Barrett
Tag Team Championship Match: Rollins and Reigns (C) vs. Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton
Daniel Bryan has been putting on wrestling clinics the last few weeks in his matches with The Shield. Despite Randy Orton‘s boring personality, he can perform at a high level. Although I’m not seeing an “out of nowhere” victory for Team RK-No. The Shield are a dominant tag team and an even more dominant stable. They’ve been nearly unstoppable and their run won’t end at Payback. I have faith that they will bring back credibility to the tag team belts.
Winner: The Shield
CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho
Easily has my vote for Match Of The Night. Chris Jericho said it himself, CM Punk brings the best out of him like no one else can. CM Punk‘s much anticipated return will result in a deafening rejoice from the crowd and a spectacular match. I honestly don’t care who wins the match. I’m going the Superman route with this match and I’m just going to sit back and enjoy.
Winner: The Fans
World Heavyweight Championship: Dolph Ziggler (C) vs. Alberto Del Rio
Seeing Ziggler back will be a welcome return. Was kind of a shame that he got that concussion so soon after winning the belt. We didn’t really get to fully enjoy him as a Champion. Alberto has the same problem as Orton. Very boring as a character with great in-ring ability. Ziggler and Del Rio shall put on a solid match. Ziggler will retain and continue his push as scheduled.
Winner: Dolph Ziggler
WWE Championship Match-3 Stages Of Hell: John Cena (C) vs. Ryback
First Match/Lumberjack Match: Cena will take this match and we will probably see the usual – an all out brawl with the lumberjacks. Considering it’s the first match don’t expect anything special.
Second Match/Table Match: This match isn’t rocket science either. You know for a fact they’re going to have all 3 matches. Throw in the fact that Ryback has been spending the last month utilizing tables to crush opponents…and Cena doesn’t have a great record with table matches. Ryback will get this victory no doubt.
Final Match/Ambulance Match: You would think Ryback has the advantage here considering he’s just incorporated and ambulance to his regular entrance. But I highly doubt Ryback is going to come away with the title. If Ryback were to win, it’d be a short run. Cena will pull his usual work and get a come from behind victory.
Winner: John Cena
