Yea they really should allow more freedom of choice in regards to carrier. Google is on the right track by having the Nexus One open to all carriers. Apple really should take notice and stop being locked in to At&t.

would it really hurt Apple to be a little more open-armed to the consumer instead of limiting themselves to just one network?Translation, would it really hurt Apple to be less of a bloodsucker of the consumer and make a product that isn't revamped and rereleased every three seconds?
Yes, yes it would.
However, on the flipside, would it really hurt the consumer masses to NOT be such fucking sheep and always jump unprotected on the AIDS covered cock of Apple all the time?

Slick, that wasn't a good translation at all. I made no mention of making revisions to the product and releasing it as a new version. I was talking about their reliance on locking down to AT&T and no one else every single time they make an internet-connected product.

Doesn't matter, my point is valid. Both of them are.

Geez Slick, why do you hate Apple so much?

I respect Apple, but it is not for me. I respect their gangster that they have cornered the market in personal media. What I despise is that while they have quality products, it is not said quality that sells. There are people like you, Rich and my friend Jamal that truly make use of Apple's ability and you make up MAYBE 5% of the fanbse. The rest are sheep that buy an iPod.....just because it's an iPod.
Then there is the fact that all too frequently Apple updates their products not with firmware, but with a brand new version that makes the previous look like shit. They do it so often that one would very much think they hold back on things so they can release a better one next year. The same will happen with the iMaxiPad they are releasing. They have already alluded to as much.
I was going to get an iPod because it is the only quality player on the market with a decent capacity but:
-I hate mp3s for the most part.
-.aac and iTunes will let me make ringtones only for an iPhone and Apple refuses to support my preferred format, .wma
-iTunes is still not really friendly to PCs and I do not intend to conform to their rules.Posted 7 months ago # -
Not for nothing, but I bought an iPod because of the storage space it came with. My first MP3 player was a Creative Nomad Jukebox 3, with 20GB. That ran out of space. Then I got a Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen NX with 30GB, and that ran out of space, then it broke. Then I went with a 60GB iPod Photo. Then when I needed more space, I went with an 80GB iPod 5G, and now I just recently ran out of space on that as well. I would go with a Zune HD simply for storage, but I have such a bad taste in my mouth from the first Zune that it's hard to accept the HD. Not only that, but when compared to the iPod Touch, it doesn't have the options I'm looking for. I know you can call me a sheep for wanting my device to have a shit ton of apps, but I like my handheld devices to do as much as possible, so I have less I have to carry around with me. I like the amount of useful and useless shit the iPod Touch can do, and I like that it is exploding onto the gaming scene. Zune needs to stop trailing behind the Android when it comes to app support. If Zune could build it's app library to compete with iPod, I'd take that over the iPod Touch. The way it looks now, though, is that it will be the PSP to the DS. It'll always be the iPod's shadow. Whenever a high capacity iPod Touch comes out (120GB or more) I'll go with that, unless Zune HD can do better.
Also, iTunes has a built-in file converter. You just gotta tinker with the Preferences for a minute. I convert all my WMA's to MP3's, and I know there's other conversions that can be made as well.

I would never call someone that did their homework a sheep. I know that iTunes has a file converter. Everything has one. BUt converting that many songs to .aac would take forever AND I would no longer be able to make my custom ringtones because the music would no longer be in the .wma format and the only phone iTunes will do it for is an....iPhone.
I respect your decision to get an iPod because it is what works for you. I feel that it does too much for me on one end and not enough on another. Plus, for what I want, the Zune HD is the clear champion - hell, it even works with my xBox! I just need it to have a greater storage capacity and I have no idea why MS is dragging their nuts on that one.

I read Slick's post on his facebook page, as well as this one here concerning Apple Ipods, From what I gather, you apparently have like 40 million different music albums, and the ipod is giving you issue in orgainzing those, correct?
If I'm wrong, then don't worry, but that's what i think you're biggest issue is.
Anyway, I just want to point out to you that if your music is 100 percent legal, ripped via CD or from itunes, then the ipod and/or itunes automatically arranges these songs and albums in their correct order.
so if you have legal rips of say, LLcool J songs, it'll organize them by album by default.
NOW, if you happened to get these songs by any other means, then you will have to do some organizing, create separate albums, playlists, etc, but it still does what you need.
It might be easier with other storage devices/mp3 players, I don't know, but the ipod does do it.Posted 7 months ago # -
Just to add my 2 cents to this discussion. Here's a little info for you guys.I have close to 10k or more tracks on my server which feeds itunes. While all the songs are in iTunes the Mp3's remain untouched and I can do what I wish with them. I have legal as well as non legal music in my server and Slick will tell you that it's somewhat organized but I only did that for my own sanity not for iTunes. ITunes is not the end all be all. There are plenty of other music managers that work with the ipod. Foobar,Songbird and a few others are great substitutes. My best advice if you want an apple product is to get something small like a nano and see if it's for you. If it's not you can sell it and make back most of what you spent. iTunes is a good but like anything else it requires tweaks to play nice with your stuff.

I remember when I did my conversion from Windows to Apple, and all the organizing I had to do with my music. Much like Rich, I have around/over 10K and many of those were totally pirated. No shame, no worries, and I just don't fucking care...
But besides that, it was a total bitch going through the conversion process from MP3 to AAC, but since I didn't acquire most of my music legally I just took it as a necessary evil to my bootlegging. Took me around 16-20 over the course of a week to do this, as I was doing indexing while converting. But since you can highlight entire groups, it made it fucktons easier, especially when going through 11 gigs of OverClocked.org's Remix Torrents.
Rich is right though, before going Apple, I used to just have WinAmp as my media handler and it was the best for me. All my indexes taht I bothered to do Windows style translated right over to AAC, with no issues whatsoever. The only thing iTunes used to do on my PC was handle the transfer over to my iPod. Even now, I only use iTune for podcasts and music management. All other shit gets done third party or through quicktime pro.

I never bothered with formatting, I left them as is.
if I want to hear something in a specific order, I make a copy of those songs, make a special folder, number them accordingly, and place them in a special playlist on the ipod.
i normally just listen to my music on shuffle.
Nothing like hearing the batman beyond theme song followed my some DMX, then followed by some DeathKlok.Posted 7 months ago # -
My music is 98% legal.
To clarify for Bronx, organization is not the issue. I have always done that myself because no program has ever 100% done it the way I want it done - I always have to tweaj. The problem is I LIKE .wma and it is the only format I care to use for music. That makes iPods 100% unfriendly for me.Posted 7 months ago # -
Then buy a Zune and a tampon already!

None of my shit is in AAC. All my music on itunes is in MP3 format. I never converted shit lol. Everything on my server is there in MP3 if the shit is in AAC in the itunes folder I don't really give a shit since it's not a folder I look in.
