UFC on FX 1: Good Card Ruined By Fickle Fans

The main event of UFC on FX 1 was between two of my favorite lightweights Melvin Guillard and Jim Miller. The fight was about 2 minutes and showed both men’s strengths- Melvin’s powerful boxing and Jim Miller’s ju-jitsu. After being rocked,  Jim Miller was able to get Melvin’s back during a scramble and choke him out. Now this was a fight where neither man made a huge mistake or was out- classed so explain to me why I get on MMA blogs and the so called MMA fans are saying Melvin is a bum and doesn’t deserve to be in the UFC. Melvin is 5-2 in his last seven fights with five straight wins. Did people just forget this? I hate most keyboard warrior MMA fans, they all seem to think that if you lose you’re automatically a bum yet they are living in their mother’s basement. Melvin is a fringe Top 10 Lightweight who has improved drastically since his time on The Ultimate Fighter. Will he ever be a champion? Probably not, but on any given night he can beat anyone in the UFC.

• I have no idea how Duane Ludwig and Josh Neer deserves to be a co-main event but it was a nice little fight with a pretty sweet guillotine finish
• Mike Easton vs  Jared Papazian was a war, no way around it, those dudes were throwing bombs from the get go
• Pat Barry knocked the hell out of Christian Morecraft (dude he has the worse stomach I’ve ever seen in my life) very good win for Mr. HD
• On the undercard Nick Denis had  Joseph Sandoval doing the back head bounce on the ground  with some sick elbows in the clinch
