There really aren’t words to describe just how excited I was for FOX’s first foray into MMA. I am what is considered by the MMA community as a TUF noob (even though I know more about the sport than most of those idiot trolls on sherdog.net). After tonight, we can now call the many new fans the sport gained as FOX noobs. I personally am responsible for creating a new viewer, getting a female friend of mine to watch the card starting with the Bendo fight right until the end, and afterwards she was hooked and begging me to show her more. Tonight was truly a great watershed moment for MMA.
Now, on to the night’s only televised fight, the Heavyweight Title bout that pitted HW Champ Cain Velasquez against Junior Dos Santos. For all the build up we were given, the fight felt like a dude who waited his ass off for sex and blew his wad in a minute. Junior hit Cain flush behind the ear and finished him at 1:04 in the first round. I’ve been hit there during boxing sparring and even with head gear it will throw your equilibrium off and that’s what happened to Cain. I’m happy for JDS and I would love to see Dos Santos versus The Reem for all the marbles.

- I could have really done without Dana White bitching after the fight, saying why didn’t Cain shoot. Considering the fight lasted ONE MINUTE I’m pretty sure he planned on it at some point. Dana really shit the bed on downing Cain and not building up JDS. Casual fans and those new to the sport needed that kind of build up.
- FOX would have been better served if they showed the Clay Guida vs. Ben Henderson fight – it was clearly without question the best fight on the card from start to finish. This war would have gave casual fans a fight that would have shown them every facet of MMA, plus it would have built up Bendo to the fans for his newly earned title shot on PPV.
- I cannot wait for Ben Henderson vs. Frankie Edgar in Japan – that fight is going to be absolutely sick!
- Dustin Poirier put on a show against Pablo Garza and I think he will be a true force at 145 lbs.
- I can’t believe that that was the same Kid Yamamoto that I saw in K-1 Heroes ripping people’s heads off – I guess his time has come and gone and it’s sad to see.
- Well, Bruce Leeroy (Alex Caceres) finally got a really impressive win against the veteran at 135lbs, Cole Escovedo.
Just like every time here kiddies, I’m going to show you a highlight of one my favorite fighters. If you just found out about Kid Yamamoto in only his past two UFC fights you would have missed one of the baddest little guys on the planet.
