WWE Championship
* John Cena (c) vs. CM Punk:
Probably the biggest (not the best) storyline in a while for the WWE is coming (not necessarily?) to an end in this PPV. While I do think CM Punk is 99% leaving the WWE, this could still be a chance for a way to show Vince McMahon of how to create a feud in the modern days. Since at either case the WWE will do something with Punk on Raw (on Monday), there is a slight chance that this feud is not over. But probably is.
A few possible scenarios:
#1 the match ends in a draw or Cena gets disqualified, meaning Cena is not fired but punk did not capture the title while leaving.
#2 Alberto Del Rio or the winner of the MITB cashes his briefcase right after the match to sell how tough the match with Punk was.
#3 Colt Cabana (which is rumored to be in the arena) costing CM Punk the match and perhaps leading something at Ring of Honor, or a return of Canaba to WWE and “persuade” Punk for a feud.
#4 The WWE gives punk the title, fires cena announce del rio is the N1C from a few weeks to face X at the Raw after next week or at summerslam to start something new. Therefore giving Cena time off (if needed). *This is definitely the most out there possibility since it looks like this entire feud was a decent way to let CM Punk go and still do something new*
Winner:
John Cena. Scenario #2 is my most wanted scenario for this entire PPV. Especially with Del Rio Vs Cena at SummerSlam.
WWE World Heavyweight Championship
If Orton is disqualified or there is bad officiating, he loses the title.
* Randy Orton (c) vs. Christian:
While the writing of Christian’s Heel run is pretty awkward for the most part, I still think it gave him something that he just did not have when he was a face. On that note, the WWE could potentially give him at least one more big Heel feud to check the waters on his character since usually, one feud is not enough (well, for R-truth it is).
Speaking on the actual match though, it is a really hard call, on the last PPV I wantedcalled for Christian to regain the title and give him the proper Heel thing, but I guess that Orton is the most powerful and important to the WWE right now (alongside Cena) that it would not make sense to strip him from that title that fast. But, with the recent interview that Orton candidly criticized Kelly Kelly and talked very candidly on past drug abuse issues, he gained some heat with officials. While it may not seem like a major one, the WWE might drop him of the title for another month to A’ punish him. B’ give Christian the ability to boast regarding his Heel character.
Winner:
Randy Orton. I still think in the end that Orton will retain and get a new feud, probably Sheamus or Henry. Despite that I want Christian to get the title again and get something extra for his character, Orton is a major player right now for the WWE.
Raw “Money in the Bank” Ladder Match
* Rey Mysterio vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. R-Truth vs. The Miz vs. Jack Swagger vs. Evan Bourne vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Alex Riley:
While I do admire WWE’s effort to push the spectacle of this match (and boy they wished John Morrison would be back for this), on the other hand of the spectrum of my issues with the SD! MITB match, is that there is no way how people like Kofy, Alex Riley, Evan Bourne or even The Miz will win this MITB. I do not think that the WWE will push Bourne anymore, Kofi is definitely not a Main Event material, Alex Riley is a decent performer that will never get a major title (and yes, people have said that about the Miz). Swagger and Truth are the ones that could easily be out of everyone’s mind, especially after his entire heel run (truth).
Therefore here are some scenarios of it could go:
#1 Del Rio wins mitb, cashes his briefcase after the match between cena and punk when cena barely wins selling the premise. cena vs del rio for a big feud for summerslam.
#2 Someone else picks up the case (like Rey Mysterio or Swagger), and del rio (via the raw general manager) will invoke his N1C for a summerslam match, and start the feud there.
#3 The WWE gives punk the title, fires cena announce del rio is the N1C from a few weeks to face X at the Raw after next week or at summerslam (perhaps HHH for a short feud). Therefore giving Cena time off (if needed).
Winner:
Alberto Del Rio (even though he doesn’t really need that, it could go well with his character to boast about another win).
Smackdown “Money in the Bank” Ladder Match
* Kane vs. Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Wade Barrett vs. Sin Cara vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Heath Slater vs. Justin Gabriel:
The most interesting part of the PPV is usually the MITB matches, but this year’s some of the participants are just straight up weird. I do not understand why the WWE keeps on putting big guys like Kane in that match. Sure, last year it worked well with the heel turn, but I do think this is intended to push younger talents and not putting more experienced wrestlers regarding their career.
There are a few scenarios that could go with this match:
#1 Cody Rhodes winning the mitb, leading dibiase to a champions faction with dibiase getting the intercontinental title after a feud with Ezekiel Jackson (even after he lost to Jackson at the recent SD! show). The main reason I think Rhodes could be the main guy to win is due to the fact that I thought they will give Cody the Royal Rumble win but they went with Del Rio and to initiate a main event status feud building with Rey Mysterio. Which is fine by me, but I think this could be it for sure.
#2 Wade Barret wins the match. Sure, Barret have failed to really impress on the Main Event card on Raw and on SD!, but eventually, he could still get his month+ title reign and give him a chance to shine on his own. The Corre was just not good to do so.
#3 Sheamus wins the match. The most obvious picking will be Sheamus. Since the WWE pushed sheamus to be the top Heel on SD! (I think, more than Christian and Henry), this could be the perfect way to legitimize Orton’s title reign even further, since if the plan is to retain him for a few more months, and after a while, he will have those obvious title defenses like Cena had with Rtruth and ones in the similar vein.
Winner:
Cody Rhodes.
* Big Show vs. Mark Henry:
While I really love what the WWE did with Henry and his Heel turn, it did not make any sense, since the whole premise of this Heel turn was Big Show’s demise after the “angle” with Del Rio. On that note, what the WWE tried to do with Big Show “lighting the fire” in Henry once again is really bad and not convincing at all.
Going right on the straight path to choose a winner, I think the WWE could finally give Henry the proper win and not give him the Del Rio angle win at the last PPV. Mainly since Big Show is going nowhere in the status sphere, and he will probably stick to upper card at best, giving Mark Henry the finalized word in that feud could do a lot to his character. Also, thinking on a more futuristic sense, if Henry will get a title shot against Orton, Henry used to work really well with him, and usually, sell a good RKO with his size.
Winner:
Mark Henry.
WWE Divas Championship
* Kelly Kelly (c) vs. Brie Bella:
Going with everything that I know (or care) about the Diva’s division, I usually give a Diva some room for a title reign, since Kelly Kelly just got her title a few weeks ago, and it looks like the WWE might split the Bellas, I would pick Kelly Kelly as the retaining Diva in this match.
Winner:
Kelly Kelly.
