What’s Next for Shane Carwin?

If you are like me, and were SCREAMING at your TV when UFC Heavyweight Shane Carwin lost to Brock Lesnar, then you may have been wondering what is next for him in the UFC.

Well folks, in a chat with The Seattle Times, today, UFC President Dana White announced that Carwin has his next opponent all lined up. That opponent goes by the name of Jon Olav Einemo, and the bout will be at UFC 132 in July.

So you may be asking…who the hell is this guy? A Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt coming out of the Golden Glory camp, Einemo is a 2003 Abu Dhabi Combat Club division champ with a MMA record of 6-1. Five of those wins are by submission. His only loss was at Pride 31 in 2006 to Fabricio Werdum via unanimous decision. UFC signed the 6’6″, 220 lb. Einemo earlier this month to their Heavyweight roster.

Jon has not competed professionally since 2006. Let’s see if his ring-rust is easy for Carwin to overcome, although Shane may have a bit himself, since he has not fought since the second-round WTF submission loss to Lesnar at UFC 116.

I am a big fan of Shane, as he is a really nice guy and humble as hell. I hope he gets the win over this guy and moves back up the HW roster to title contention.

Side note: Also set for UFC 132 is Tito Ortiz vs. Ryan Bader. Let’s see if this fight actually happens. The Huntington Beach Bad Boy was originally supposed to meet Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC Fight Night 24 this Saturday before he got hurt and had to pull out of the match. Nog will now face Phil Davis during the card that will air live on Spike TV.
