Strikeforce Challengers 14 Main Card Predictions

The fourteenth installment of Strikeforce Challengers Series (ShoMMA) takes place tomorrow (February 18, 2011) from the Cedar Park Center in Cedar Park, Texas. The card will feature two of the best light weight prospects that Strikeforce has to offer in Lyle Beerbohm and Ryan Couture.

Beerbohm (15-0) will be taking on veteran Team Quest fighter Pat Healy (25-17) in the night main event. Beerbohm has fought three times for Strikeforce but his last two bouts were under the Rumble on the Ridge (ROTR) banner. With Beerbohm in the night’s main event it appears he has positioned himself one win away from the big time Strikeforce cards. Healy last fought at last June’s Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Werdum against Josh Thomson, losing by third round rear naked choke submission. Healy will pose the biggest threat to Beerbohm’s unbeaten record to date and a true test to the caliber of competition both fighters are ready for.

After a successful professional debut with Strikeforce, Ryan Couture (1-0) will look to continue his winning ways against Lee Higgins (2-0). Couture has a lot of hype behind him because of his last name, but Strikeforce has matched him up nicely with Higgins who is only making his third professional appearance. Training at Extreme Couture with the likes of Forest Griffin, Vitor Belfort and his father, Randy Couture is will be very interesting to see Ryan’s progression from his first fight to the present.

Also on the night’s main card will be another MMA veteran Carlo Prater taking on Bryan Travers, Erik Apple against Ryan Larson and David Douglas versus Nick Gonzalez. Strikeforce Challengers Series will air live on Showtime starting at 8pm ET / 11pm PT.
