Strike­force Chal­lengers 14 Main Card Predictions

The four­teenth install­ment of Strike­force Chal­lengers Series (ShoMMA) takes place tomor­row (Feb­ru­ary 18, 2011) from the Cedar Park Cen­ter in Cedar Park, Texas. The card will fea­ture two of the best light weight prospects that Strike­force has to offer in Lyle Beer­bohm and Ryan Cou­ture.

Beer­bohm (15–0) will be tak­ing on vet­eran Team Quest fighter Pat Healy (25–17) in the night main event. Beer­bohm has fought three times for Strike­force but his last two bouts were under the Rum­ble on the Ridge (ROTR) ban­ner. With Beer­bohm in the night’s main event it appears he has posi­tioned him­self one win away from the big time Strike­force cards. Healy last fought at last June’s Strike­force: Fedor vs. Wer­dum against Josh Thom­son, los­ing by third round rear naked choke sub­mis­sion. Healy will pose the biggest threat to Beerbohm’s unbeaten record to date and a true test to the cal­iber of com­pe­ti­tion both fight­ers are ready for.

After a suc­cess­ful pro­fes­sional debut with Strike­force, Ryan Cou­ture (1–0) will look to con­tinue his win­ning ways against Lee Hig­gins (2–0). Cou­ture has a lot of hype behind him because of his last name, but Strike­force has matched him up nicely with Hig­gins who is only mak­ing his third pro­fes­sional appear­ance. Train­ing at Extreme Cou­ture with the likes of For­est Grif­fin, Vitor Belfort and his father, Randy Cou­ture is will be very inter­est­ing to see Ryan’s pro­gres­sion from his first fight to the present.

Also on the night’s main card will be another MMA vet­eran Carlo Prater tak­ing on Bryan Tra­vers, Erik Apple against Ryan Lar­son and David Dou­glas ver­sus Nick Gon­za­lez. Strike­force Chal­lengers Series will air live on Show­time start­ing at 8pm ET / 11pm PT.
