1st Impression: Robert Rodriguez’s Predators

The Predator films have been a guilty pleasure of mine for a long time, from the battles with Schwarzenegger and Glover, to the two films battling the Aliens. The Predators themselves have always had a unique presentation to movie fans because they really are anti-heroes and there are times you actually end up rooting for them. When Robert Rodriguez announced his intent to reboot the franchise there was a part of me that was concerned because of the casting that was involved, but as I researched the film more, I enjoyed the concept Rodriguez was using. In this new interpretation human “Predators”  and cold blooded killers are taken to a planet which serves as a Predator hunting ground and, of course, it becomes survival of the fittest. I feel that the Predator books as well as the films always focused on the hunting of the strongest prey, and this film continues to enforce that.  Here is your sneak peek at the Robert Rodriguez’s Predators.

I have nothing much to say about the flick until I say more but I wanted to say to my good friend Anth**coughhypocritecoughcoughtransformerscoughcoughcough**sorry about that, have a bad cold this weekend.

What was I saying?

Transformers was always never meant to be a true adaptation of the cartoon. Get that shit out of your head already.

Yea I said "always never"

I have so much wrong with this. Don't get me wrong, it's a great cast. I don't really like the setting (we haven't seen army commandos fighting a Predator in the jungle before, have we?!). What I HATE is what they're doing to the already well-established Predator mythos. First of all, huge tusks under their chins? What? Secondly, Predator Attack Dogs? Is that what those 4-legged things were? I could go on and on. If they ARE attack dogs (otherwise, why would they bring them to Earth?) then what's the purpose? These are supposed to be a species of aliens that pride themselves on the singular hunt, hunting alone against prey that is an even match. Bringing on dogs is dishonorable. Is this supposed to be some rogue class of Predator that has no honor? If that's the case, they better explain that somehow. Elaborate on the honor system for the people who HAVEN'T researched anything or have only seen the two Predator movies. I dunno, I have a lot to say on this as a nerd on the subject.
