Marge Simpson-Playboy Covergirl!!!

On this weeks episode of My Take Radio I discussed briefly the overuse of sexuality in gaming and was so pressed for time that I couldn’t address this nugget of information. It seems Playboy is trying anything to drum up interest and has decided to resort to fictional characters that they can undress and pose provocatively. I personally think this is a stupid idea and does nothing but sully the image of both Playboy and The Simpsons. In addition to the cover, Marge will also appear in lingerie. Behold the wonderful cover.

What a disaster this is!

I can understand maybe using a cartoon character to bring in the audience that likes that type of stuff, but at least find one that could be considered attractive. I can name at least 20 other characters that in their own right could be considered sex symbols on their respective shows. Hell the Simpsons even had an episode where Homer found his new co-woker more attractive than Marge and was going crazy that he had to stay in the same room with that co-worker.

This is ridiculous on so many levels! I can understand if playboy wanted to do something tongue in cheek and put a character like Jessica Rabbit or some other cartoon character that is considered sexy, but using Marge Simpson, who is in no way a sex symbol on the cover is a complete milking of the Simpson's fans. Has Playboy ever put a real regular person on the cover, someone who isn't very attractive? Would Playboy ever put Roseanne on the cover? The answer is no.

The Playboy empire is on its last legs and will probably not be in business in five years, at least in its current incarnation. The magazine is a joke, no one reads it and no one will while you can see all of the same pics online for free.
